On Monday, May 19, 2014. The Jefferson Rescue Squad, Sandhill Fire Department, and First Health EMS responded to an overturned dump truck on Ogburn Road outside of Jefferson. First arriving responders found a dump truck lying on its side, its roof crushed, and the driver trapped inside. Additional crash trucks and personnel were requested from Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah Fire Department and the Pageland Rescue Squad. Jefferson Rescue Squad personnel were able to use two reciprocating saws to cut a large hole in the trucks roof and free the driver. The driver was treated on scene by First Health EMS Paramedics and transported to the helipad at Sandhills Fire Department Station 3. There the driver was transferred to a Med Center Air helicopter and flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte NC. The crash is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol.
